The European Interbalkan Medical Center works with all private insurance companies, as well as EOPYY (the National Organisation for Healthcare Services Provision), the Bank of Greece, the
Ministry of Mercantile Marine and TYPET (the National Bank of Greece Staff Health Fund). Your insurance company is the sole authority for providing reliable information about the insurance coverage to which you are entitled.
Insurance Company Liaison Offices operate at the European Interbalkan Medical Center (on the Mezzanine and Level 0). You can
contact the appropriate office for your insurance company.
For more information, please contact us by email: commercial@iatriko.gr
First, please visit the Admissions Office to complete your admission. Once you know your assigned room, visit your insurance company’s office to obtain the necessary approval for coverage. To help us serve you efficiently, please bring your identity card and insurance policy number.
It is also helpful to know the name of your insurance company and whether your policy is individual or group coverage. We recommend checking your coverage percentage before admission.
On the day you arrive at the hospital, you will be asked to pay for services that are not covered by your insurance. In some cases, you may be asked to pay a deposit upon admission, based on the estimated length of your hospital stay.

Hospital Stay
Your healthcare team
During your stay at the European Interbalkan Medical Center, you will be cared for by a specialised, multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals who work closely together to provide you with the best possible medical and nursing support.
This team includes:
Responsible for coordinating your overall treatment and monitoring your progress.
Specialises in your condition and works with your attending physician to develop your treatment plan.
Works closely with the medical team and ensures that your treatment plan is implemented correctly and consistently.
Care for you every day, administer your medication and guide you on care after discharge.
Monitors your medication and works with the team to ensure that medicines are administered safely and correctly.
Depending on your needs, other specialised professionals may also be involved in your care, such as a dietitian, who provides nutritional support through a special diet, and allied health professionals, such as physiotherapists and technologists.
Correct patient identification ensures that the service or treatment is provided to the intended patient and helps prevent errors during your hospital stay.
Patient identification is maintained throughout your stay through an identification wristband. This must show your full name, father’s name, date of birth, admission date and attending physician. These details must match the patient information sheet issued by the hospital’s Admissions Office and the printed barcode exactly.
Your identity is always confirmed by checking your identification wristband before every nursing procedure, including measuring vital signs, administering medication, venepuncture and blood sampling, collecting other samples for clinical tests, blood transfusion and preparing for surgery.
At the European Interbalkan Medical Center, we believe that family and friends make an important contribution to a patient’s recovery. Visiting arrangements are therefore designed to ensure safety, peace and the smooth delivery of patient care.
