Emergency management in the Emergency Department includes:
- Triage and prioritization procedures.Procedures for immediate diagnosis and management of life-threatening situations.
- Procedures for immediate resuscitation and advanced support of organ systems.
- Procedures for stabilization and further referral for definitive diagnostic and therapeutic management.
- Procedures for short-term hospitalization of patients.
- Procedures for performing minor surgical and orthopedic procedures.
- Procedures allowing short-term hospitalization of acutely, critically ill patients in an environment of absolute safety until their transfer to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Urgent clinical and laboratory examinations, accurate and timely diagnosis of the acute problem, and implementation of the appropriate therapeutic treatment are performed.
