Programs for Children and Adolescents

In addition to vaccinations, the Paediatric Center at European Interbalkan Medical Center offers specialised programmes for preventive screening in children and adolescents, including:

1. Obesity prevention in children with a family history of obesity or other metabolic disorders

2. Gastroscopy to diagnose gastro-oesophageal reflux or gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori

3. Diagnostic assessment of malabsorption syndrome and identification of its causes (coeliac disease, cystic fibrosis and food intolerances)

4. Early identification of hypercholesterolaemia and hypertension in children with a relevant family history

5. Diagnostic assessment of congenital or acquired heart disease (coarctation of the aorta, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy)

6. Early diagnosis of thrombophilia in children with a significant family history on one or both parents’ sides

7. Screening for endocrine disorders (hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, polycystic ovaries).

8. Use of modern molecular techniques for disease detection before symptoms appear (tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, Mediterranean fever, etc.)

9. Neurological conditions requiring investigation and personalised treatment. Care for children with cerebral palsy or neuromuscular diseases who require a prolonged hospital stay and specialist management of their health problems.

10. Guidance on a child’s diet, physical activity, avoiding substances such as tobacco and alcohol, and the early identification of mental health conditions are among the services we offer parents visiting European Interbalkan Medical Center with their children.
