Mission of an Interdisciplinary Team of Multiple Specialties from the Athens Medical Group to Northern Greece to address the pandemic
Athens, December 04, 2020 – The Athens Medical Group, wishing to support, in practice, the efforts of the NHS people in Northern Greece who are fighting daily to deal with the pandemic, proceeded to create and send an Interdisciplinary Team of specialized doctors, which is placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Health, in order to meet the needs of the NHS Hospitals in Northern Greece.
The Head – Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Team will be the Professor of Pathology – Infectious Diseases of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Pavlos Nikolaidis, Director of the Pathology – Infectious Diseases Clinic and President of the Scientific Council of the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki. The Interdisciplinary Team is composed of the following experienced Scientific Associate Physicians of the Athens Medical Group:

- Evangelini Dimou, Internist-Hepatologist
- Vasilios Tzilas, Pulmonologist

- Dimitris Economou, Pulmonologist
- Panagiota Kollia, Internist

This specific initiative of the Athens Medical Group is part of the ongoing support of the National Health System (NHS) during the pandemic.For Northern Greece, in particular, it comes as a continuation of the disposal of a Nursing Wing of the Inter-Balkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki, with a capacity of (60) hospital beds and (8) ICU beds at the Ministry of Health, for non-Covid-19 cases, as well as the program of auxiliary coverage of the National Health System’s on-call services, also for non-Covid-19 cases.
Regarding the creation and dispatch to Northern Greece of the Interdisciplinary Team of the Athens Medical Group, to meet the needs of the Ministry of Health, Professor Mr. Pavlos Nikolaidis, stated: “As you know, the Athens Medical Group is actively supporting the co-capital and the suffering Northern Greece in these difficult times, non-stop and daily, in order to offer high-quality services to our fellow citizens who really need it.”
