Nuclear Medicine - Treatment
For the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and the delivery of both conventional and innovative treatments, the Center has three specially constructed shielded rooms that meet the strictest safety criteria.
Each treatment is individually planned according to the type and stage of the disease, aiming to maximise effectiveness and minimise side effects.
Patients receiving treatment at the International Oncology Center have access to the latest treatment protocols for chemotherapy regimens, hormone therapies, immunotherapies, biological therapies and targeted therapies.
Treatments take place in areas designed with patient safety, comfort and psychological support as priorities. The Center has 120 state-of-the-art chemotherapy beds, designed to ensure privacy and tranquillity. Ergonomic, fully adjustable treatment stations adapt to each patient’s needs throughout treatment.
Before each treatment, a detailed medical assessment and briefing ensure that patients and their families are fully prepared for the procedure and for managing any symptoms.
The Center’s calm, welcoming environment also makes a meaningful contribution to the overall patient experience and strengthens their sense of safety and support.
The International Oncology Center performs the full range of surgical procedures across all areas of oncology, with the overriding aim of providing comprehensive, excellent care to patients diagnosed with cancer.
Drawing on specialist knowledge and experience, the Center uses innovative techniques that set new standards in surgical oncology. Operations are performed using advanced, minimally invasive methods, such as laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery with the Da Vinci X system, offering patients the benefits of less surgical trauma, reduced postoperative burden, faster recovery and significantly fewer complications.
The operating rooms at the International Oncology Center are equipped with the latest technology, including digital and hybrid operating rooms that ensure maximum precision and safety during surgery. These facilities enable continuous monitoring, real-time digital imaging and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring the best possible care for every patient.
The range of surgical procedures performed at the Center includes:
The International Oncology Center houses the first recognised Center for Stereotactic Radiosurgery & Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy in Northern Greece.
Supported by advanced technology, radiotherapy techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SBRT and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) are used to ensure maximum precision in targeting tumours while minimising the impact on healthy tissue.
Treatments are planned according to the characteristics of the disease and the patient’s overall condition, using advanced imaging (CT, MRI, PET/CT). They are delivered with leading equipment, such as the latest-generation Halcyon and Synergy linear accelerators and the EDGE system, which enables non-invasive radiosurgery with simultaneous real-time localisation of the target tumour.
Cutting-edge technology, combined with the scientific expertise and experience of the radiation oncologists and medical physics team, ensures the management of even the most complex cancer cases, providing internationally recognised, high-quality care.
Interventional Radiology – Interventional Oncology involves minimally invasive procedures performed under imaging guidance (angiography, tomography or ultrasound), without open surgery.
At the International Oncology Center, all complex procedures are performed by internationally accredited interventional radiologists and interventional oncologists, including founding members of the SIO – Society of Interventional Oncology, based in Washington, USA.
The state-of-the-art “Hyperion” angiography system in the hybrid operating room offers a wide range of advanced functions, enabling these complex procedures to be performed faster, more safely and more effectively.
The Center also performs biopsies using specialised equipment suited to the affected organ, along with local treatments such as radiofrequency or microwave tumour ablation, tumour cryoablation or combinations of these methods. Treatments take place in a safe environment, supported by specialised staff who remain by patients’ sides throughout.
We offer access to new treatments and medicines through global clinical trials, enabling patients at the Center to benefit from early access to innovative drugs or therapies before they become widely available.
To date, more than 200 clinical trials have been conducted, including studies on lung, skin, ovarian, bladder, breast and bowel cancers, as well as other forms of cancer.
For the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and the delivery of both conventional and innovative treatments, the Center has three specially constructed shielded rooms that meet the strictest safety criteria.
The Center also offers advanced treatments to preserve fertility in patients with cancer, including ovarian tissue cryopreservation and egg and sperm freezing.
Cardio-Oncology focuses on managing all cardiovascular complications of cancer, as well as those caused by its treatments.
The aim is to deliver treatment safely while minimising potential cardiotoxic effects. This approach ensures that each patient receives the most effective, personalised cancer treatment while reducing the risk of cardiac conditions during or after therapy.
At the Center, we believe that patient care extends beyond treating the disease.
Supporting patients at every stage of their journey is equally important. As part of our holistic approach, patients have access to comprehensive supportive care services.
The Pain Clinic team, psychologists, physiotherapists and clinical dietitians work closely together with the shared aim of relieving symptoms, managing treatment side effects and improving each patient’s quality of life.
