FOCAL ONE Robotic System

The Athens Medical Center is the only center in Southeastern Europe that features the Focal One® HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Robotic System, confirming the Athens Medical Group’s ongoing commitment to being at the forefront of modern medical technology developments.

The Focal One® is the first robotically assisted system designed specifically for the focal treatment of prostate cancer, offering an effective, non-invasive treatment option, without surgery.

By utilizing the latest developments in HIFU technology and imaging fusion software with precision and imaging of the lesion with magnetic and ultrasound, it is able to cope with the increasing specificities of focal treatment of prostate cancer.

Key features & benefits:

  • High-precision focal therapy, using advanced HIFU technology
  • Possibility of intervention with or without preoperative imaging (image-based or imageless), without radiation exposure.
  • Real-time guidance and assessment of knee stability during the surgery.
  • Personalized surgical planning (Personalized Medicine), tailored to each patient's anatomy.

Focal One® does not replace robotic surgery, but rather serves as an ideal treatment option for selected cases of non-aggressive prostate cancer, as well as:

  • for older patients
  • for patients who cannot undergo general anesthesia
  • for cases of recurrence following radiotherapy
  • with the option to repeat the treatment, if required

The treatment can be administered independently or in combination with other oncological therapies, as part of a personalized treatment strategy.

The robotic surgery departments of the Athens Medical Group serve as international centers of reference and excellence, playing an active role in the training and scientific advancement of robotic urology. The Group’s specialized physicians regularly participate in international educational programs, scientific collaborations, and conferences, contributing to the dissemination and evolution of modern robotic techniques.
