The goal: to help our children develop a strong respiratory system through aerobic exercise and, of course, through play.
We can perform easy and enjoyable exercises to strengthen the respiratory muscles:
-
Blowing up balloons of different shapes and types (even the effort counts!).
-
Blowing pinwheels.
-
Blowing through a mouthpiece.
-
Making bubbles in a bottle or basin using straws of different lengths and diameters.
In addition, during these exercises we can help improve the child’s aerobic capacity:
-
Jumping on a trampoline (for at least 10 minutes)
-
Skipping rope (for at least 10 minutes)
-
Walking on their hands
-
Rocking on a ball (60 to 70 cm in diameter) while singing at the same time (for at least 10 minutes)
Finally, we can train the child to perform “huffing” in combination with coughing in order to mobilize and expel any secretions, if present:
-
Using a mirror and performing “huffing” while simultaneously making sounds such as “HA, HOO, HEE, HO”.
In this way, we achieve both prevention and strengthening of the respiratory muscles.
It is very beneficial to encourage children to engage
